2018 was…a year, to say the least. A lot happened, some good, some bad, and a lot of in between. I graduated from a university that is ranked #14 in the nation, I dealt with depression and anxiety, I started working at a globally ranked law firm, I had some close friendships end, I started to travel more, and my blogging took an incidental hiatus. This does not even scratch the surface of my past year, but the most important thing of all? I made it to the new year. Instead of focusing on the bad, I have decided to think about all of the good things that I have accomplished in the past year and the things that I will accomplish in this new year.

Resolutions are usually lofty statements that expect a complete 180, so instead I have chosen to make a few attainable goals just for this month. Life is easier to view in short little pieces versus long periods of time. Try not to create huge goals for the year that you won’t keep past January 15th, instead try to create a few goals that you can break down by the month, week, or even day. Want to start being healthier? Commit to working out two to three days a week instead of trying to go everyday. Make one day out of the week a “no eating out” day and work your way up from there. Want to work on your spending habits? Make seven days out of the month “no spend” days. They can be one consecutive week or spread throughout the month, do what works for you. The most important part to making these goals is to make them something that you know you can actually do. No one is going to go from not working out at all to working out every day, or from using every form of social media every day to not at all. It is okay to break things down and it feels better to accomplish a small goal, than to quit a huge one.

One of my current goals is to start blogging more consistently, and to achieve that I am going to try to post once a week. If I miss a week, I will not be hard on myself about it but instead just try again the next week. I also want to work on being alone and meeting new people, so I will be going to one event a month by myself. What are your goals for 2019 and how are you making those achievable? Also what would you like to see on the blog this year? Let me know in the comments!
