Newsletters keep me informed about different topics and give me new and interesting things to learn more about. I love getting my favorite publications in my email because it is the first thing I check once settling into the office and it helps me to figure out what is going on in the world around me. These newsletters always offer me interesting and useful articles, new places to shop and people to follow, history lessons, career advice, and so much more. I have been subscribed to Girlboss for quite some time now and it is one of my favorite publications. Zelda Wynn Valdes began her career in the peak of Jim Crow segregation, when black seamstresses were largely low-wage earning service workers and the title “designer” was typically reserved for white men. By 1948, she had become the queen of the custom market — with her own boutique in New York City and a loyal clientele of black celebrities like Ella Fitzgerald, Eartha Kitt and Josephine Baker. Zelda knew that it was the job of clothes to fit the woman, not vice versa — and quickly gained a reputation as a designer who could fit a dress to a body of any size. In 1970, she started touring with the Dance Theater of Harlem, where she began dyeing each dancer’s tights to match their skin tone. Until then, black dancers had spent their careers wearing pink tights that were supposed to mimic the skin color of white dancers, underscoring the racial uniformity of classical ballet. The New York Times: In Her Words is a newer subscription for me but I have loved it since I started to subscribe. I am a huge advocate for women and women’s rights so if that aligns with you then this is the perfect newsletter for you. The main story is always on something related to current news regarding women and then it gives you more articles to read that are also about women. A cool thing they have been doing for Women’s History Month is giving you a small fact about women’s history at the end of each letter.

Giving you details on what’s going on as far as companies going public, their economic outlook, any backlash that a company is facing and what they are doing in response and so much more. They also give interviews on people who work in the industry that are very helpful for anyone trying to break into fashion or beauty. I love BOF because it allows me to stay informed on everything in the less glamorous side of the fashion and beauty world.

I love The Zoe Report for all of my style and fashion news. They tell me about all of the big fashion and beauty sales, what styles are in for the upcoming season, Fashion Week news, and even give career advice for women that is applicable to any industry. I choose to subscribe to The Zoe Report because it helps me stay updated on trends, gives me inspiration for outfit ideas and lets me know what brands I should be looking out for.
