Sunday Routine: How I Prep for My Week

Hi friends! Long time no see, life can get a little crazy sometimes…and depressing…but I’m back! My goal is to be more consistent with blogging, but I do prioritize my mental health and sometimes need a break from life things. Remember that your health and happiness is more important than any job, side hustle, hobby, etc. With that being said, let’s get back to it!

Preparing for my week on Sundays helps me to have a smooth week, especially in the mornings! I am not an early bird at all, I sleep in as late as I can most days and if I don’t prep beforehand it is a disaster. Here is my quick Sunday routine to prep for the week ahead.

Outfits

This is a MAJOR part of my routine, if I don’t do anything else I always pick out all of my outfits for the week ahead. It doesn’t take me long to configure my outfits, however, if I am trying to do this at 8:30am and I need to leave within the next 10 minutes, while still needing to do my hair and grab breakfast, let’s just say it can get a little messy. To forgo any of these issues I check the weather for the week ahead and lay out the perfect outfit for each day, shoes and other accessories included. I take the time to iron, resew any buttons, and take care of anything that may cause a mini crisis in the mornings. What has helped me a lot with this is a garment rack, I purchased one from IKEA and it has changed my life! It has space for a week’s worth of outfits and a rack at the bottom for my shoes.

Food

I usually go grocery shopping and figure out my meals on Sundays. I do not meal prep (because I am not that dedicated) but I do make a list of possible meals for each day. It helps me to see all of my options and know what is in my kitchen. Whatever I have for dinner on Sunday usually ends up being lunch for Monday so I make sure to pack that up so that I can grab it and go in the morning.

Hair

If you are natural like me, then you already know…doing my hair is a PROCESS and styling in the morning is not always an option (heyyyy puff!!) so I use Sunday’s as my hair refresher day. I wash, co-wash, deep condition, whatever my hair needs that week, on Sunday’s and choose a base style that I can wear all week. I usually go with a wash n’ go and style it in different ways throughout the week, or I will braid my hair up to go under a wig all week. Whatever I do, I make sure that it is a style that will require little to no manipulation in the mornings.

Cleaning

On Sundays we clean. I like to start the week with a clear mind and the easiest way to achieve that is to have a clear home. I tidy up all the mess from the weekend and the week before and I always feel like my mind is refreshed and ready for the week ahead. This also makes finding things throughout the week easier and I have one less thing to worry about as my weekdays go on.

Planning

I love to list everything that I need to do for the week. I check my calendar to see what is coming up as far as work, my internship, and social life and make sure that I am not forgetting anything or overbooking. I then make loose plans for when I am going to work on things, but this is mostly just to make sure that I am aware of everything that is coming in the week ahead.

Hopefully some of these tips can be helpful for you all. How do you plan for the week ahead? Any special routines or rituals? Let me know in the comments!
